On suite

Anyone know what do I need to do to put an on suite in the bedroom.
Planning permission?
Building control?
Nothing?

Same question to put a downstairs cloakroom in, but with a shower cubicle, using a corner of the living room, (it's L shaped, so basically taking the end of the L, and making access from the house entrance hall, and squaring the living room with a new entrance) Different house though.

planning- probably not ( maybe if adding windows ).
Building control- Definately yes. They'll be interested in things like the electrics and sewerage etc.
Just give them a call and explain what you are doing. They will then advise of the procedure.
  • They sound like purely internal alterations, in which case, it's not development - therefore no planning permission is required.

The only external part will be running the soil pipe from the bedroom down the front of the house, to the sewage pipe running below. The house is an L shape, it will be in the crook of the L.
