Replacing fascia/soffits etc

Have had 3 companies round our estate recently offering very different prices for replacing the fascia/soffits around the roof.

We have a semi-detached house and the quotes so far range from £580 to £2460 - quite a difference!

I realise that the most expensive company would remove the timber that is there already, and the others probably won't.

We have a damp smell in the loft and recently had the gutters cleaned by one of these companies - the one with the cheapest quote - who asked if we had damp problems and recommended getting this work done.

Is it best to get the timbers removed or will covering over with PVC eradicate the damp problem?

You need to ask each company what they intend to do and what thickness materials they will be using
