ScottishPower fixed price online march 2011

I too am on this tariff, and have also found the same problems as you when using the price comparison websites to see if I can get a better deal elsewhere.
I end up having to calculate my annual spend on gas and electricity by taking my annual kWH consumption and the unit price of gas and electricity, and the standing charges, then deducting the dual fuel and on line discounts, to determine what my actual expenditure is.
I then fire up the various comparison websites, pick any tariff, put in the kWH figures I used in my calculations, and then see what the total cost is for each tariff in turn, to ensure that my capped Scottish Power tariff is still the cheapest.
I last did this before Christmas as it was (by some way), but may now be less so given the round of price cuts.
Does not answer your question directly I know.0 -
It took me a while to work out. From Uswitch I chose pay by fixed direct debit and this brought up a huge list of tariffs - through trial and error I found Fixed Price Enery Online Historic matched mine.
Once you get the comparisons up at the top you can click and see current supplier rates. This is what mine said
Unit prices
Electricity
£67.34 Annual standing charge 9.25p per kWh
All prices shown are inclusive of V.A.T. at 5%
Discounts- Online Discount: £10.50
Fixed Price Energy Online historic features- Fixed prices until 28th February 2011
HTH
I need to double check my yearly kwh usage but a quick guess comparison brings up Npower at £13 saving so staying with Scottish power for now.0 -
I'm also on this tariff, and its very confusing.
However, on www.energyhelpline.com its the one that comes up as:
"FIXED ENERGY NO STANDING CHARGE" (Note, no dates after title)
If you then click near the top of the summary page , where it states:-
"Click here to view your current tariff details including unit rates and kWh usage.", you can confirm your tariff rates.
Out of interest, mine currently shows that the cheapest is Npower Sign online 14, but they are still £30 MORE expensive than the Feb 2011 tariff.
I assume this will all change when the price drops start to kick in.Bad Spellers of the world untie0 -
If anyone is a member of 'Which Online', their 'Switch with Which' section does display 'Fixed Price Energy Online 2011', (exact description as shown at the top of my bill) and is shown to still beat all the rest.
I'll be staying where I am for the time being. I seem to remember that when I took this out - around April/May 2008 - it didn't have an exit fee, so shouldn't cost to move away from it as and when that time arises.
I should add that I simply used my current monthly payments as opposed to annual KWh usage, as a year hasn't passed since I've been with them, and I couldn't be bothered to sit down and work out an average consumption from the usage thus far. If I were to, I believe the savings shown would be even greater.0 -
Agreed, this tarriff still seems to be cheapest - JUST.
The next round of price cuts will make a difference.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
I have had the same problems as you all not finding the tariff on the comparisons.
Thanks guys0 -

Sorry to appear pedantic, but the exact wording of the one you need to select is:
'Online Fixed Price Energy No Standing Charge'
Just thought I'd mention this as there sooo many to choose from0 -
My mum is on this tariff and a comparison for her shows Npower are the cheapest at the mo with SOL14 but that would be costing her an extra £52 a year.
Also dont forget Npowers silly discounts which means it has to say you are saving over £105 in the year for it to make any difference to you monthly DDsMissing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
Just re-did comparison with Which site using my years usage inKwh.
Brings up Npower Web tariff as approx 27 pound cheaper which made me think it might be worth me considering switching BUT when I look a bit closer the Npower tariff includes a £21 discount ONLY if paid by monthly Direct Debit without a break for 12 months.
So not quite so appealing and have been happy with Scottish Power service and billing.0
