Quote - what do you think??

We have permission to build a 2 storey side extension measuring 7.5m x 2.5m. We plan to have a kitchen diner on the ground floor and a bedroom with ensuite bathroom upstairs. It will be built of block and rendered. We have been quoted £38k but this does not include the bathroom fittings nor the kitchen, so we will have to purchase these seperate. (Live in Cornwall)

What's your opinion on that quote? Friends of ours in Yorkshire are having a larger extension than ours which includes the front of the house being relocated and is being built of brick and they are paying £32K.

You really need to get at least another 2 quotes before commiting to anything.

I work on the rough guide of £1,800 per sq mt (foot print) for the cost of the "shell" of an extension.

So for you, that equates to £34k, so I's expect more included for £38k. Your friends who got a larger extension for £32k appear to have got a good deal.
