E-on question (another)

Hi

Ive now got my first bill in for eon as ive given them meter readings and it is way way way below the so called "calculated" direct debit.

How do i go about getting the direct debit lowered? I dont mind paying more still to keep me in credit but the difference between the direct debit and first bill is over £30 per month.

and lets not forget it has been the coldest Feb for years and i have used the electric!

Do you know how many kwh you use annually and how much your annual bill is likely to be?

Just give them a call and asked if it can be lowered. I been with them for a few years now but just moved house a few months back and had to start a new account with them. I gave them a call because what they calculated what i would be using and I thought I was paying too much, Turned out it i was only paying around £10 more than I should have been so just kept my DD as it its. My payments will probably come down when summer is here anyway.

Ah well I think they will need a few months just to see what your usage will be so your right I dont think they will. Maybe best to wait a few months and ask them. They might even lower it themselves for you if they realise your paying to much and are in credit.

Nothing to lose by ringing, asking and watching your meter to keep in line.

Why are you on Econ 7 when you use so little electricity at night - surely you would be much better off on a single rate tariff?

It depends on your tariff, but you need to be usint at least 25% (more likely 50%) of your electricity during the 7 'night' hours to make it worth being on E7.
If you want it checked, put up your prices from the bill and we'll see what comes out.

You'd have to heat up an awful lot of hot water to make Econ7 worthwhile if you're using 10% off peak now.

    Hi Laminypie
Good to see your bill is not as much as expected. :j

Direct Debits for customers taking over a property are calculated based on previous usage at the address. This information is sent to us by the meter readers and is based on annual consumption.

As such, it is an estimate as people have different lifestyles.

Direct Debits are reviewed each spring and will be adjusted then. However, we are always happy to look at your payments. Just give us a call and explain the circumstances. It may be the initial arrangement was too high.

    Hope this helps.
