vacuum cleaner for hard floors

Hi Everyone

Most of my house is floorboards but a couple of rooms have carpets.

I need a hoover that works well on both - any recommendations?

I use my Dyson on both carpets and laminate floors.

ive a dyson cylinder too, (DC11?) we have carpets upstairs, but hard floor down stairs, and it works a treat. have heard shocking stories about the dyson but im thrilled with mine.

Well my personal favourite (as posted before) is the Miele 'cat and dog' so called as it is useful for those with pet hair problemsn (I have neither just teenage daughter with hair!!) It comes with adjustable suck for curtains, upholstery etc and two different heads for carpet and hard floors (I have carpet and floorboards) I really cannot speak highly enough of it and it is so much easier and lighter to carry around than the Dyson.
