Canon PS SX110 camera

Some time ago I remember someone saying they were going to buy this camera and wondered if they did or anyone else own one. Looks a good shape for me. I must have a viewfinder but don't like DLSR or bridge cameras as their bag (like a box) is very awkward to carry around.
The only fault I have with this camera is I would of liked a wider angle lens

Pretty much all Canon cameras are good, so I don't think you'll be disappointed (unless you really want something with a wider lens of course). Does it have a viewfinder? I can't see one in any of the pictures.
The lens is reasonably wide for a compact: 36-360mm (35mm equivalent), though I imagine the selling point for this camera is its zoom rather than its wide angle capabilities. Some Panasonic compacts have quite wide angle lenses, so you might want to check them out.
Not all SLRs are awkward to carry around though; I have a Nikon D40, and it fits in my coat pocket.0 -
I bought a Panny FZ18 but gave it to my son who is keen on photography but no money. Didn't like the boxy shape of the case as it was always bumping around and annoyed me. I have an older Nikon which is small but I need to something more modern. Would not consder DSLR as would not suit me and wouldn't want to spend on extra lenses.
The 36 mm lenses - I am not sure about and the replacements have 28mm but cost a lot more.A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. In latter part of career specialising in commercial - mostly business sales.0 -
The Panasonic FZ18 is a bridge camera; there are Panasonic compacts which have slightly wider angle lenses.

I bought one before going on holiday. Delighted with the results. The main reason I bought it was for the zoom. There is no viewfinder.0

Yes was close to getting the TZ5 or TZ4 but no viewfinder was one of the reasons why not. The girl in Jacobs says if I wait long enough the camera I want, at a sensible price, may come on the market but looking like I will need to compromise. I hate compromise but not willing to spend over £200 as photography will never be that important to me. Well I don't think so????A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. I'm afraid compromise is a fact of life.
For what it's worth, my fiancee has a Canon IXUS 80, which has a viewfinder, but probably not the focal length you're looking for (38 - 114mm 35mm equivalent).
It's a nice little camera though.0 -

You wouldn't believe there are so many cameras andnew ones being announced this past week but I have a mental block at spending more than £200. I could get my old Olympus 5060 repaired but the quote is £80 +.Then, even though I used to love the camera, it is getting old in thew tooth.A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build.
