Am looking for a new place to live on rightmove and have just seen this statement at the bottom of a listing..
Is it true and is it actually worth the paragraph its written in?
**WARNING TO ALL TENANTS ** Are you viewing properties through agents who are not ARLA registered! From April 6, only regulated letting agents and corporate and individual landlords will be covered by the Tenancy Deposit Scheme and cover will be withdrawn from unregulated agents. CRL are members of ARLA and all damage deposits taken will be held safely within the TDS

Yes its true. After 6th April only regulated angents will be able to use the Tenancy Deposit Scheme company to register deposits. Unregulated agents will have to use one of the other two companies to register a deposit.0 -
TDS says it's at the insistence of their insurers.
It's not only ARLA though who are regulated though. It's:- Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA)
- The National Approved Lettings Scheme (NALS)
- National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA)
- Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
