Gas
I used to have gas and Electric with Eon but moved my Electric over to EDF's eco20:20. I didn'y move the gas as this was more expensive with EDF.
Now I need to look at my gas. I have been notified by Eon that my gas will now move on the single standard tariff which is 6.218 and then after x amount of units it drops to 3.388. After doing some looking round, even this standard tariff looks good as I have found another cheaper.
Is anyone else able to offer advice. If I was to move it as a dual fuel tariff to EDF I do get a £25 discount but this still makes their tariff expensive.
I would be interested to hear others views.

Standard advice:
Work out annual consumption in kwh and use this figure on a comparison site. If you put in for duel fuel, most will give the results table with gas and elec tabs, so that you can look at gas only.0 -
As Magentasue says, use a comparison site.
It's very difficult to just compare unit prices.
e.g. for an average annual gas consumption of 20,500kWh per year (a figure that Eon seem to usually refer to), then you would save £17.00 per year based purely on unit costs going with Ebico who simply charge 3.675p for every kWh consumed (from end March, no gas price reduction from Eon due).
However you can probably do better if you are an average user or higher and would agree to take paperless billing, online account management and/or monthly direct debit payments which many companies offer varying discounts for."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Thank you for your replies. I have been in my house for a year yet so I am unable to go by kw used or prices. I probably wouldn'y be able to use my bills from my previous house either as I have bought a much smaller house (my last was a 5 bed and this is 3 so it took more gas to heat).
What else would you suggest. I was just searching the websites on their price per kwTopCashback £1792.63My Little World0 -
Do you mean you haven't been in your house a yet? Could you use a winter quarter and a summer quarter, add them together and double them?0

I haven't been in my house for a whole year yet. so I haven't any old bills to go byTopCashback £1792.63My Little World0

But have you got some idea of how many kwh you use in a summer month or quarter? And how many you use in a winter month/quarter?0

I have some from June as I kept a note on the PC of my readings. Do I just add these to my winter bill which I got in January?TopCashback £1792.63My Little World0

If your winter bill is accurate, you could double it for an estimate of winter use. And then multiply June's figure for summer. Obviously, not ideal but should give you some idea of how many kwh you might use in a year.0
