  • Do you have a manual? If not, you can download the Access Help online User's Guide, along with software and drivers, from Software and Device Drivers - ThinkPad T43, T43p. Search for 'Access Help' on that web page, and download and install the guide. For wireless it says:
Enabling or disabling the wireless feature

To enable or disable the wireless feature, press Fn+F5. A list of wireless features appears in the Wireless Radio Control window. You can turn the feature on and off with a single click.

You can also enable or disable the feature by the following procedures.

To enable the wireless feature, do as follows:

    1. Click the Access Connections wireless icon in the system tray.

    2. Click Turn Wireless Radio On.

To disable the wireless feature, do as follows:

    1. Click the Access Connections wireless icon in the system tray.

    2. Click Turn Wireless Radio Off.

Note: To use the Access Connections wireless icon or the Fn+F5 key combination for enabling or disabling the wireless feature, select Enabled for the Internal Wireless Device in the BIOS Setup Utility. If you have selected Radio off, neither the Access Connections wireless icon nor the Fn+F5 key combination for the wireless radio control will work.
The guide also tells you how to get into the BIOS Setup utility.
  • How to get IBM wireless adapters (802.11 or bluetooth) as these are not installed in my thinkped T43 laptop.

my client has lent me a Thinkpad R52 to use ... if its like mine which I think it is then it uses Intel Centrino technology.

I would expect XP SP2 to detect that and auto install the drivers. Are you sure the wireless connection is not showing up Control Panel/Network Connections?

If not you want "Intel Chipset Support for Windows 2000/XP - ThinkPad R52, T43/p, X41, X41 Tablet, Z60m, Z60t" off the same IBM page linked above.
  • The drivers are on that page I gave: Bluetooth and Wireless Networking.

For wireless networking, there are 2 drivers available; download the one which matches your wireless adapter.

The one I referred to is the chipset driver, its a driver package -

PCI Express, USB Driver, Audio Driver Information, Modem Driver Information, LAN Driver (wireless, cable).

So you can do them seperately or all at once. But I'm still thinking that XP SP2 should be doing this. Perhaps you got an older verison of XP.

I also got this from client and has XP SP2 but can't see those drivers, installed again but still. Can anyone suggest step by step wifi set-up, resolution guide ?
  • I can only suggest updating your drivers and software automatically and following the troubleshooting steps for bluetooth and wireless networking. All those are linked on this page.
  • which network card does it have in it?
Is it the Dual-Band 802.11ab, 802.11bg and 802.11abg wireless LAN Mini PCI adapter
or the Intel PRO Wireless LAN 2200bg and 2915abg Mini PCI adapter?
