Best home phone deal for OAP ???

Im trying to sort out the best home phone deal for my mum who needs a simple basic package ( she wont cope with dialing a prefix no) . she does not make many landline calls but calls me lots on my mobile as i have no landline . These calls make up 75% of her calls and therefore make her bill horrendous .
Does anyone have any suggestions ??? Im totally confused by all the different packages!!
Is it just me but why does all the utilitys etc make everything so complicated? Im sure that they would proberly get more custom by straightforward no frills service.
cheers !!

If she is on BT their free (no contract) inclusive weekend call package with the addition of Mobile Call Saver at £1.46 a month would probaly suit her best.

From the 1/4/2009 BT will launch Friends & Family Mobile and it will be available at no extra cost to Unlimited Weekend Plan customers and Evening & Weekend Plan customers signing up for a 12-month renewable contract. It will also be available separately for £1.50 per month. With Friends & Family Mobile, calls to UK mobiles will be charged at 7 pence per minute (8p set-up fee applies).

A slightly 'devious' approach worked for me.

I was willing to pay an elderly relative's bill for calling my mobile so, first, I set up a 18185 account online for her.

Then, I turned off the tariff announcement.

Then, I told her my mobile number had changed and it was now 1818507123456789.

Last, as she had a phone which had a phonebook, I programmed my 'new' number into that for her as well.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Move to Primus, free evenings and weekend calls to 01 and 02 numbers, also they offer a mobile call for upto 20mins for 20p on their 1penny mobile add on.
A fool and their money are easily parted.

They certainly used to offer Penny Mobile 2 - which gave those 20p for 20 minutes calls to UK mobiles - but I haven't heard of anyone being successful in getting onto it for some time now.
