Hi everyone, im looking for the cheapest flight to New York arround July the 20th. I know this is a bad time to get a cheap flight. A few weeks ago I found one for £460 return from manchester but everwhere seems to have gone up?
Cheapest I can get now is about £510 thats departing 20th July returning 3rd September. Thats with continental to newark.
Anyone any ideas where I could get it cheaper?
Thanks Andy

The bad news is that £500plus is the current price for flights from Manchester to New York on the days you suggest. The cheapest I could find was £502 with BA via London. The good news is that bookings to the US are well down, the bad news, New York seems to be doing better than most other US destinations and the worst news of all, July 20th is, give or take, the start of the school holidays when the flights will be packed. I would wait another 4 weeks and see if any more sales appear, there is a rumour BA may have another offer but if nothing has appeared by then, I would book before you find the fare even higher and the seats full0

I'm looking to go to Chicago at around the same time from London (friends of mine are getting together in Chicago on the 26th and I wont have seen them for a year!), but Chicago seemed even more expensive to get to than NY
. I'm a student, so really can't afford £500...even £400 would be really pushing it. I'm flexible with my dates/arrival destinations, as long as I can be in Chicago for the 26th, but it's proving difficult
