Second hand german import cars

Hello
Can anyone help? My husband has just bought a Ford Mondeo that is a german import. Appears to have been driven in the UK for a while (he's not home yet so not got all the details!) I am just a little concerned as I have heard numerous horror stories about grey imports, specifically Japanese imports though.
Does anyone know anything about any problems or things we should be wary of?
Thank you so much

A grey import (as opposed to a parallel import) may cost more to insure. If it's from Germany, it's probably a left hooker (Japanese ones still have the steering wheel on the right).0
