i have recently bought a whirlpool washing machine which is extremely noisy, when the engineer came out, he said that all whirlpool were the same and there was nothing wrong with it, he said its 'the pump', and whirlpool pumps are noisy, i have had many washing machines before that have not been anywhere near as noisy as this one, is this normal?

I have whirlpool appliances,, the suction pump went very noisey and was replaced by a local engineer arranged through whirlpool.
