Warranty Issues if buying imported stock from ebay powerseller

Hi everyone.

Apologies if this should have gone in the ebay forum but it's sort of a bit of both. (And I have tried searching the forums for anything similar but the search gods don't seem to be favouring me lately so apologies if there's already a thread dealing with this issue).

A brief bit of background. In January I placed an order with Dabs for a Canon EOS 5D Mk II which I was hoping to have in time for when I go on honeymoon next month. While it wasn't in stock at the time I got three or four updates on when Dabs expected stock from the supplier. Unfortunately today I've received another update today with a new ETA date which would be after I've gone away, so that's no good.

Nowhere else I've looked seems to have stock right now. However, there is a power seller on ebay selling imported Japanese models. As this seems to be the only way I'm going to get hold of one in time I'm tempted (the seller has over 6000 feedback so I'm reasonbly sure they're not some scam merchants) but I'm concerned about where I stand warranty-wise should anything go wrong as the ebay listing says the warranty that it comes with is the Japanese warranty. Do companies generally honour the warranties of products originating from different markets than you're in?

thanks
