Yes they are dearer, but you do get what you pay for, they really are excellent quality and reputation, and they do make a difference when listening to music, much better sound quality, but I suppose if you don't want to pay that much, then they won't do.

I bought a pair of Bose headphone in the US last year they are brilliant and well worth the money but they are proberbly out of your budget, the bass is brlliant and they had the bonus of noise canceling making plane flights almost silent even when sitting near the engines.
You will hear parts of the music you havnt heard before I never go anywhere without them now
