the normal sort you stick in your ear fall out of my ears all the time and i dont want a neckband sort as its aggravating...i want the old fashioned larger (not massive!) sponge ones but with no neckband if you know what i mean. they need to have wicked bass on them!! what should i go for? dont want to spend too much money and there are thousands on ebay, i want peoples opinions on the best foam (round, not in ear, the clip sort) bass earphones please..

I have some that hook over my ears, I hate anything inside my ears, mine are Sony MDR-Q55 they are about 15 months old so they may have been superceded with a new model.0

They are fine on base but I suppose it depends on what the player kicks out too...I would recommend them no problem.0 -
my mp3 players bass is p-poor but i remember in 1990 i had this walkman, a sony one and the earphones had added bass and i swear i have never had a walkman in any format with a good a sound since...do they make earphones with the dial still for added bass?Fr. I suspect the design of over-the-ear headphones inherently limits the quantity of bass. I too have some old Sony ones. If I gently press the ’phones to my ears, I can hear a large amount of bass, showing that the drivers are wiggling for all they’re worth. But, as soon as they’re allowed to rest naturally, a lot of the bass disappears. They are then acting like something close to drivers without a baffle or enclosure. See this page on loudspeaker theory as to why bass disappears. And no, I don’t have particularly sticky-out ears

There’s a phrase that applies to both computers and audio: Rubbish in, rubbish out. If your MP3 player does have poor bass, no pair of headphones can magic it out of nowhere. The only way you might improve bass slightly is by having headphones that are easier to drive. Ones with a higher electrical impedance and greater efficiency will give the amplifier in the player an easier time.
I can only assume your old headphones had something akin to a tone control built into them. Unfortunately, even if you do find something like that, tone controls and graphic equalisers are problematic when it comes to MP3 files. The psycho-acoustic model used for the compression throws away sounds based on the assumption that the relative volumes of the frequencies won’t be altered later on. The more heavily you compress the sound for an MP3, the more the final quality will suffer if only selective bands of frequencies are amplified.古池や蛙飛込む水の音0 -

Hope this helps0 -
Cheapish but decent - get Sony in-ear Volume Control ones.

£8 or so from Currys or Comet. I have tried several others but for everyyday out and about use under £10 none compare for bass performance and practicality (nice little wheel volume control on the cable).0 -
I can recommend sennheiser once, they are the bee's knees!
