 is there any hope!?

Do I need a new one? I can't put anything at the back of the fridge part as it just freezes

had problem with my fridge freezer recently so now know a lot about them than before (although might be talking complete b****x!).

Basically usually the cold air from the freezer is used to cool the fridge via a fan. The two are connected and so it might mean that your freezer is too cold? Maybe the 'air vent' connecting the two is frozen up?

The best thing to do is probably to empty both the freezer and fridge. I unscrewed the panels in my freezer and found that they were completely iced up. This ice might be going down into your fridge? If you defrost them both then this might solve it. The fact that there is ice there means it is still working so you shouldn't need to get rid of it.

Don't hold me to this but fridge/freezers are quite simple apparently! so hopefully you can sort it easily.

imagine so as there will be a fan circulating the air so should be able to move upwards.... I had a load of reasonable diagrams in my instructions (amazingly still had them!). Do you have yours? worth a check or sometimes you can download them off the company website.

I've got the same problem! Mines a Whirlpool side by side american fridge freezer thingy.
The fridge has a thermostat, so I changed that as it was only £25 and I am pretty handy like that!
This hasn't cured it so the only other thing left is the Control board which is £225! Ouch!
If it is the fridge that is freezing then depending on the make, it will probaly have some sort of control cricuity consisting of a thermostat and control board.
Thermostats tend to be cheaper to change and worth a try first.
Do a search online for your make/model and thermostat and see if it turns up anything.

I had the same problem - so I deforsted the whole thing and cleand it out, I found that there was a small hole at the back of the fridge had got blocked.

So once it had defrosted and clean - it is working all well again.

    Hope that helps

I think I need to beg some freezer space so I can leave it for a good defrosting birthday!
