Another Egg Card oddity

No I changed the DD about 4 days before the due date, not the statement date. It seems raa_thistle and ctm understood everything at least

You can bet if I was another bank they'd have been liable for all sorts of charges by taking this money.
I've already decided not to use Egg anymore due to this new Direct Debit policy but this is just another example of poor service. I'm not going to pursue it as it'd cost me more than 35p to phone them and their secure messaging is useless.0 -
Thank you for clarifying muffle, and I see you've now edited your OP to accurately reflect what you actually did!muffle wrote:No I changed it about 4 days before the due date, not the statement date. It seems raa_thistle and ctm understood everything at least

It seems it's 'touch and go' whether the DD is changed or not when you're within the 5 day period. Perhaps that's why Egg suggest you don't try it.0 -
Have double checked the statement and no cash advances etc., just 5 purchases.
I decided to send a cheeky message and asked them for £11.16 in interest for the 11 days the extra payment was out of my account due to their error. That's what they would have charged me for 11 days at their rate of 14.9%

Just a bit of clarification please. When you changed the DD was it currently set up to take the full amount or the minimum amount? If it was set to take the full amount and you changed it to minimum then Egg have done nothing wrong (apart from the interest) as they took the full DD payment, which is what they said they would do.
IF the DD was currently set to minimum payment and you changed it to full then they have taken the wrong amount and have been naughty, as they say you cannot change the DD inside the 5 WD period.
Not sure from rereading which way round it is.
The interest is still worth querying though. Send a secure message asking them to tell you which specific transaction incurred interest.0 -
Sorry just noticed I worded it the wrong way round in the OP. It was set to take the minimum payment but I changed it to full balance. So they should have only taken the minimum amount as it was changed too late.0
