Changing meter tariff

Hi was just wondering if anyone had any experience of this.

I'm with Swalec for electricity and last time they came to read the meter, I noticed that the credit was running out very quickly afterwards. I rang them and asked if they had adjusted the meter in anyway and apparently they had put it up without telling me.

Are they allowed to do that? I don't remember receiving any correspondence telling me they would be raising the prices. Also I thought prices were being reduced at the moment, not raised :confused:
