Firstly, have you retuned since the problem appeared? Down here they are forever moving channels about, so it's possible that they have moved when Dave+1, Quest and a few others were added recently.

Another possibility is that there is some maintenance work under way, and that it's just a temporary glitch. Have you asked any of your neighbours if they have the same problem?

retuned with booster on - no difference. neighbours have same problem. everything okay then rubbish - checked communial aerial and everything is okay too.

cant understand why signal and quality is so high and yet have problems with some channels.

Another thought - are you near to an area that's recently switched to full power? If so, it may be that some of the multiplexes "overlap", and are overwhelming your local transmitter on just those channels.

If that's what is happening you may not see an improvement until your local transmitter gets switched...

If your neighbours all have the same problem and the only common factor is your shared aerial, then I'm guessing that it might not in fact be OK.

On my communal ariel there are two adjustments on the junction box. One is labelled gain and the other is .... can't remember what. Have a look and see and try adjustment, maybe one of your neighbours has been meddling?

  • could be all sorts, literally.
    Maybe the anteanna has moved,
maybe it is an atmospheric issue,
maybe it isnt a wideband antenna and was previously only just picking up all the channels.
Is there any work being done on your local transmitter? ~(can check on the bbc website),
Is there any new construction work occuring nearby (cranes, tall building etc..)

My advice is check all the connections and perhaps get the landlord to have the antenna looked at.
