Cant connect to Wireless Internet at Work!

I cant for the life of me figure out why.

At home, as soon as i get in the door my wireless connection starts up and i have internet. A couple weeks ago, i could bring my laptop in, connect to the network and get internet access. But today, its connecting to the network, but wont let me connect to the internet.

Ive tried things suggested by people such as ipconfig /release, /renew, but this doesnt work as when i press renew i get failed because it 'couldnt contact DHCP server'

Can anyone help me please? Im pulling my hair out.

What operating system are you using?
  • I think you have to talk to your office IT team. Most companies dont allow you to connect to the network without them knowing about it. Hackers could cause major havoc.

I wonder if they have turned off the DHCP server at work, and your iphone has an IP address already. but I think you will need to contact your IT dept to find out if any settings need altering on your laptop

I'd imagine the network has been locked down and secured. If you could just connect to it openly before it seems it was unprotected and I'm not talking WPA or WEP encoding here. Probably secured via VPN, so although your PC connects it isn't allowed through until it's been authenticated. As others have said speak to your IT folks although if this is the case and for them not to have communicated it is pretty lame.

Can't you just connect by ethernet to your office network?
