Cancelling Mobile Contract

My husband purchased a Blackberry Storm for me from a Vodafone shop. It purchased it on 28th Nov for a Christmas present. He explained to the assistant that it was for a Christmas present and could it be changed afterwards if i didnt want it. They said yes. When i got the pressy, i didnt want it so went back on 27th Dec and was told to come back the next day when the manager was in. I did and was told it was too late to change it. To cut a very long story short, they refuse to change it. Is there anything at all that i can do? I dont even mind changing it for another phone but the Blackberry Storm is just not my type of phone.

What about selling the Crackberry and using the money to buy another handset?
