How long will refund from BT take?

Over the last 6 months I have been paying too much on my monthly direct debit with BT and after phoning them yesterday to sort out a direct debit problem they said that as I was in credit they would be happy to refund the ammount I was in credit by, if I wanted.

As money is short at the moment I jumped at the offer.

I am just wondering how long they usually take to refund credit back to you. They never actually said over the phone.

Does anyone by any chance know?

Thanks

    Hi Wkdwill,

Im Sean from BT customer support. I`l be able to answer your question. Refunds for the credit that has gathered from over paying on your monthly payment plan, may vary depending on when and how the advisor you have spoke to has put this through. It can take up to 3-5 working days, although on some occasions you may have to wait for your next bill is produced before the refund is issued. If you want I will be able to confirm this for you. I have sent you a PM.

    Cheers
    Sean

Ooo I might do this. We're currently on 6 months free broadband and now are £77 in credit. I'm not sure if I'm best to leave it in credit for when we start paying for broadband again or whether to take the refund.

Or if, I think he means. I've had two refunds recently, the first one took months, the second one weeks.
I am 90% certain BT have a policy of deliberately refunding the money only to your BT account when you ask for the cash, and only actually paying out once you've chased it a couple of times.

I mean, why would anyone want a refund to their old, now unused account once they move house?
