I think it will be a good thing if we have to return to rationing (don't see it as likely though) as people are currently eating themselves to death.
Not able to get butter? You might lose a few pounds. Not able to get sugar? You might get to keep your own teeth for longer AND lose a few pounds.
The likelihood of it getting to a situation where we don't have enough food to actually keep ourselves going is ridiculously small.
I actually hope it encourages people to consider what portion sizes should be like and that we don't need to eat until we are so full that we can't fit another mouthful in.0 -

I agree! To be fair though I do run about 35 kilometres a week:p
(a 15k run plus 4 x 5k ones plus 2 rest days!)
And I play netball on Thursdays and Saturdays if I'm not working. I see enough of the products of inactivity and overeating at work to put me off for life.
But sadly, yes, the majority of the population does not get off their backside enough! Lovely day for a run this morning - went out about 5.30am and it was cold but clear, my favourite sort of running day.0 -
Dont know why Armageddon keeps being mentioned. I'm talking about food shortages, possible rioting, redundancy. Those are the things I'm stockpiling food for, slowly and gradually. Becoming a little more self sufficient rather than rely on the food distribution network. Its an insurance for when things go wrong and it means less stress when the time comes and people are out scrabbling around for the last bag of rice or whatever.
Dont know how you can knock someone for being prepared, but there you go.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -

I also have a gas mask for bird flu, a nuclear bunker in my back yard and a large stick.0 -
I have maxed out on credit cards and bought some new build flats and an Aston. Is this what you meant?0

Yeah, cos I can see that happening in the UK in the forseeable future...
Sorry but I think if there is any problems, it isn't going to come down to the "last bag of rice". It's like Christmas. I saw a woman in Waitrose on Christmas Eve buying 10 tins of crabmeat. Her daughter told her that they had already sorted the festive period meals out.
She replied that "there's all sorts of disruption over Christmas...who knows when they'll have it back in stock!"
I mean, who needs 10 tins of crab meat between Christmas and New Year when you already have all your meals planned?!0 -
If there really is economic collapse, we can look to Zimbabwe to see what it would be like. No safe mains drinking water would be the most serious challenge.0
