Curries and Dell

I bought a Dell Inspiron Laptop from Curries in September of last year. I also purchased their Cover Me plan which I pay £15.00 a month for. Over Christmas I had to ring the Tech Guys for help as the computer wouldn't boot up. The Tech Guys referred me direct to Dell as they couldn't help. I spoke to Dell who informed me that there was a fee of £57.75 to reload some software onto the laptop which I paid over the phone to them with my Visa Debit card.
I then rang Curries and informed them that I had been charged by Dell. They said this shouldn't have happened and told me to send in a copy of the invoice from Dell and they would reimburse me. I have now telephoned Dell about ten times and e-mailed them about five times for this invoice. I have had no reply to my e-mails and upon telephoning I get passed around about five departments before I speak to someone who informs me that this will be sent in the post but never arrives. I am at my wits end. I paid this invoice in December!!! Curries won't reimburse me until I send them the receipted invoice which I cannot get from Dell despite trying my utmost. What do I do now? Any suggestions?

for £80 you could buy an Operating system and do it yourself. The £15 a month insurance is a rip off anyway, get it cancelled when this is done, how much is your laptop actually worth?0 -
£15 a month for cover??!!0

Sorry guys - its £6.99 a month - confused it with my union membership
I paid £400.00 for the laptop - the thing is its actually only six months old !!! I hate being fobbed off - Currys wouldn't consider a replacement until an attempt to repair it was undertaken .0 -
Learn from your experience.... Next time, try not buying from DSG group, the shoddiest bunch of bozos you will ever have the misfortune to encounter. If anything good comes out of this depression, it will be the collapse of this bunch of thieving, lying scumbags. They prey on those less expert PC buyers, and they milk them dry. £20 for a 50p USB cable? £30 for a £5 MS mouse? Grr.
Get a laptop from a COMPUTER retailer; i.e one who employs at least one person who has a passing idea of how to support PC users (no the tech guys are not this, they are merely clones of the idiots you encounter on the shop floor with a badge somehow bestowing years of PC experience upon them). You should not have been charged; you can reload the software yourself for free by a simple keypress combo on bootup......
Good luck with your claim.0 -
Not much help but when i purchased my Dell laptop with a standard warranty you could then ring up and extend it to 3 years onsite next day service for £700

:rotfl: Oh Vlad, you've really made me laugh - you're absolutely right - they are a bunch of scumbags - they couldn't care less about their customers. I'm going to have one more try to get that receipt and if I can't I'm going to report them to Trading Standards.
Thanks everybody for your replies.0
