Putting and Using Microwave in Cupboard

Hi all
We are getting a new fridge freezer which is much taller than previously :j and we will no longer be put the microwave on top of it. We don't want to put it on the work surface (need all the space for my moneysaving bread and pasta making!).
We have a cupboard above the built in oven which has a power socket in it - do you think we would be safe to put and use the microwave in there? Obviously will leave the cupboard door open when in use?
I have been searching the web but not found a lot of info - any advice greatfully received! :money:

I have mine in a "cupboard", so to speak. It is a tall oven housing unit with a proper glass "lift up door" which hides the microwave, obviously left up when in use.
I have a normal stand alone microwave in there, it's not a tight fit there is plenty of space around it. When we bought had the kitchen fitted about 10 years ago this was sold as a unit for exactly that purpose. We have had no problems at all. Just make sure you have plenty of space around the microwave.0 -
No problem at all, so long as there is enough space between the microwave and the cupboard walls to allow air to circulate around the vents.0

Have a look at your instruction booklet (or search the net for the instructions). It should tell you the minimum clearance distance to all faces. I have a built in microwave which has about 5mm clearance to either side, but about 150mm to the top which is where it vents. I have had no problems with it.0

Mine's in a cupboard too and I make a practise of leaving the door open for a few minutes after any extended cooking so that any moisture/steam/condensation evaporates - haven't had any damage done yet and it's been there for four years already.
One word of warning though - don't use that cupboard if you have to reach any higher than your chest. Too much risk of knocking your elbow when lifting something out and the whole boiling lot gets poured down your front. Not funny, not safe and certainly not a pleasant experience.0 -
Microwaves in caravan's are in cupboards also.Spending my time reading how to fix PC's,instead of looking at Facebook.0
