If they'd done that, a lot of people, me for one, would never have paid the last price increase. That would have been unfair on those who did. It looks as if they're making sure everybody has a quarter at the highest price.
Off the thread a bit but relevant: how much money does NIE waste on paying people to read meters every quarter. Elsewhere, they seem quite happy for creditworthy and honest customers to read their own meters and jsut check them every year or so.0 -
Good point 36square! Has anyone ever worked out if it is cheaper to have candles than electricity in the evenings, and also if it is any more or less environmentally friendly? I would quite happily knit by candlelight and just have the telly on if it made much difference. Also, can anyone tell me, re not leaving things on standby, if I turn off my sky box overnight, do I have to go through a whole resetting thing every morning when it is tuned back on again?Feel free to thank me, it makes my toes tingle and my ears go warm :T0

depends what you mean by resetting? if you mean wait for 30 seconds or so while the sky box gets its backside out of bed and gets a signal, then yeah............you are supposed to leave it on standby over night so they can update software and check if you've watched any box office stuff that hasn't been paid for, but since we moved house 2 years ago they've never complained about it being unplugged from the phonelineNorn Iron Club Member #64

But my last bill was in December and it was at the higher tariff - £16.88. As far as I'm concerned if they bill me in March for the full 3 months at the higher price it will amount to theft!0 -

If you are charged again at the higher price make sure you post that here. Then we'll see whether NIE is treating all customers fairly or not and you'll have stronger grounds for complaining.0 -

Just thought i would post the reply i got from them
Thank you for your email.
The 16.88 unit price is the price increase from October, as this is your first full quarter from October your are only seeing the increase now.
Your next bill will show the new unit price of 15.06p per unit.
Should you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us.
