Help exhusband property rights

Divorced this year. Ex moved out May 2007. He's still on mortgage and on property. I've been paying mortgage and full council tax on my own since then. Have offered to buy him out (as much as i can afford) but he still wants more. I have a dependant child living with me for which he pays weekly maintenance. Please can anyone advise what legal rights he has (including access to the property) and I have and any suggestions as to what i can do. Is he legally obliged to pay half of the mortgage, repairs, alterations, etc. and how do I protect my interests.

Yes the debt is half his.
But you're living in his half too.
You'd have to buy him out fairly. Get several valuations of the property now.
What does the financial bit of your divorce say?0 -
Are you paying him rent for the use of his half share?0

No, I'm not paying him any rent. The finances were not finalised before the divorce.0

There was property involved so the judge should not have granted your divorce until it was agreed.0 -
Divorce can be finalised before property matters are sorted - they will only be looked at by the Court if one of the parties involved makes an application for a property adjustment Order. As no application was made at that time, you will need to do that now if you cannot agree on how the property should be divided. The first place to go though should be a mediation service to see if they can help you reach a sensible compromise. Which part of the Country are you in?0
