  • When we bought our council house on the Right to Buy scheme we did not need a deposit. Our home at that time was valued at £97K but was getting it for £70K (after the discount) Not sure if this is still done but we only bought ours 3 1/2 years ago.

    Yes, if the OP is getting a £22,000 discount on the property, the loan to value is already good even without a deposit. I think the OP could at least ask about a mortgage, and might be surprised.

    God! i been beging banks and an army or mortgage advisors trying for mortgage and no chance for me
    45 k deposit , selfemployed owning the company i work for.. problem is my wages are low - tax efficent as the bankers call it.
    no loans and credit card paid full monthly
