Low cost servicing in Herts/Essex

I have a 10 year old Mondeo and I'm looking for a decent mechanic or garage that charges good rates as I suspect various parts will start to fail given the age. I can do the standard service myself but it takes me about 5 times as long and I would rather pay someone else with all the right tools and knowledge and who can tell me when something needs replacing.

I paid a mobile mechanic to change a part recently though his rate was £40+vat which I thought was relatively high (though he seemed to know what he was doing).

I live close to the Herts / Essex border and interested to hear any recommendations you may have.

I think you will do well to find anything much cheaper than £40 ph.

I live near brentwood and struggled to get much change for £50ph from the independants round here.

I use Steve Mott in Braintree,been using him for about 6 years and trust him totally.I think his rate is about £40 per hour.TBH i dont think you would get cheaper than that.
