I must have been 13 when I did it as I've checked about the NOW3 album and that was released in 1984 so there you go..... it was easy money as I recall, he never woke up and he was always already in bed when I got there.
Scary thought, that little boy must be about 26 years old now!!!! :eek:0 -
Social services wouldn't be 'down on you like a ton of bricks'. The parents of the children she is sitting are responsible for their children and decideing if your daughter is sensible enough to babysit. And she sound slike she is.
Somefolk think kids should never grow up and be wrapped up in cotton wool... then wonder why their are so many idiots about....
Anyway, I babysat from about 13, charged £20 from 7pm-12midnight and £3 and hour thereafter (cut off was 1am). Never did me any harm.
I think babysitting like any job teaches kids work ethic, common sence and responsibility.
No idea what the going rate is now, sorry!0 -
My neice babysat for us from 14.5. Wasn't a problem, we have relatives living in the village, aware she was babysitting as was my next door neighbour-on hand in an emergency and her mum was about 8 mins drive away.
..She had our mobile and we'd contact her part way thru night to make sure she was ok.
I think we paid her £10 initally increasing to £15 for 8ish-11ish, more perhaps
£20 if we were back later and a bit more for a special event eg new years eve.
sometimes she stopped the night, but she learnt that little kids get up early! so often her mum would pick her up.0
