I did the same and there's no way they let you open it without a cheque book. They're phoning me back shortly to close the account. Bleeerr!!!0

There would always be a credit check before opening an account which provided credit/overdraft facilities such as a current account.
However, Yorkshire BS have the Cash Transactor Card account which allows Direct Debits and Standing Orders and it is has no overdraft facilities as it is a savings account.

As you might expect the interest rate is bad but as you can access it via the internet you could also open an Internet Saver with a higher interest rate and move money between the two instantly.

Also Nationwide have the Cash Card account.

These organisations may do a credit check anyway so ring them and ask to be sure.0 -
Are you sure its instant? I thought it took overnight?martinman3 wrote: »you could also open an Internet Saver with a higher interest rate and move money between the two instantly.0 -

Most don't do a credit check, just an Identity check with a CRA0
