As I have received two letters from a solicitor
Are you sure it really is a solicitor? Many of the PPC's use letters that at first look appear to be from a solicitor but actually aren't real solicitors.
Check the letter carefully, perhaps even google the alleged solicitor's details before assuming it really is from one.
Even then, it will still be bluff and bluster, real solicitor or not.====0 -
Thank you for your prompt replies. I have just entered the solicitor - Michael Sobell of Graham White Solicitors - into Google and it came up with some very interesting links. Looks like I will be ignoring these letters as well for now. The debt collector was called Roxburghe - apparently the same company deals with both!0

Just as I thought, "Graham White Solicitors" have become quite infamous on the net, strange why Mr Sobell sees fit to call himself Graham White for his parking business.
Found this interesting excerpt among the google searches.Excerpted from the website description:
Fresh approach, better results - Roxburghe is one for the leading debt collection agencies in the UK. Since the company's inception in 1961, Roxburghe has continually evolved and now offers its clients and account holders one of the most professional and efficent range of receivables managment solutions available
Excerpted from the web:
These guys are a door or two in West Byfleet away from their 'solicitors', called 'Graham White' (no connection with a proper firm of the same name).
The man fronting the firm is Michael Sobell, a solicitor who actually works for the London Borough of Hackney. In reality, the firm is just a lot of geeks sending out scary letters. If you put up a fight they back down.
The way to fight them when Roxburgh send their first letter is to reply denying the charge, say you will defend the claim, threaten a counterclaim and demand they issue proceedings wihtin 14 days.
Then if they send two further threatening letters you report them to the Police for harassment. The last thing they want is to see you in Court. The whole thing is a mailing operation, looking for easy pickings. Don't make life easy for them!====0 -
Nothing has changed, Carol (except your username!).
You are just nearing the end of the half-dozen scary letters that posters told you about earlier on in the thread. bargepole's advice still applies:
QUOTE:
'They will now send you a series of increasingly threatening letters, some with red writing and even chequered borders. After half a dozen or so, they will give up. In the very unlikely event they do issue a court claim, post the details on the Pepipoo parking forum, and one of the eagles there will help you file a defence. Last time that happened, Excel didn't even bother turning up.'

Thanks. I didn't realise that had happened. I will stick to everyone's advice and just keep igorning everything. Haven't got the time or the inclination to write back to them under the circumstances. They don't have my address and I have long since moved from the temporary address they had for me.0

Thanks for letting me know. Didn't realise my username had changed. Not sure why that happened!
I will continue to ignore all letters as I don't have the time or inclination to reply to them. I have since moved from the only address they had for me, which was temporary accommodation between moves, and take my chances.0 -
Don't reply because you can't be bothered. Don't reply because they'll away sooner. They WANT you to write to them remember.0
