Nail varnish + leather sofa = HELP!!!

Hoping someone can help me, please!
My DD spilt dark purple nail varnish on our dark brown leather sofa at the weekend! It didn't spill directly on to the sofa, but went through a throw. she didn't tell me she'd done it so by the time I discovered it, it was already dry!
I tried to rub it with baby wipes & although it removed a little bit of the surface colour of the varnish, it's also taking out the colour of the sofa!
Obviously I daren't try nail varnish remover, so I wondered if anyone else had experience of this & knows the best way to remove the varnish without damaging the sofa...pretty please?!:D

P.S If that doesn't work try some nail varnish remover in a unsightable spot just to make sure it wont damage your sofa0 -
try furnitureclinic.co.uk they have lots of good products and even dye kits if the damage is bad
email them with a pic and they should respond on how to deal with it0 -
Nail varnish remover, after all it is varnish. If the leather turns clear, buff it back with shoes polish (of similar colour as leather0

When the colour has come off before, it has been black underneath. I have tried shoe polish to cover these areas, but it doesn't 'take' & it won't cover. Thanks anyway.:D0 -
Can't help with the stain I am afraid, but I may be able to help regarding 'recolouring' your sofa.
If you have a local saddlery (or quick surf of the net) you should be able to find an actual leather dye product. This is normally available in black and a brown and was designed to dye leather bridles etc.
I have used it, although only on tack, and it works very well.
Anyway I hope that this maybe of some help.0 -
i go with the hairspray idea i saw it on how clean is your house and my suite had paint on it it got that off0

Couldn't you use a cotton bud and nail varnish remover and very carefully work from the middle of the spill, taking care not to drip any of the remover on the rest of the settee'
You can buy colour restorers for settees, I have used a dark green one in the past and it was brill.
It is different to shoe polish as it is not waxy like polish, it dries and doesn't come off on clothing.
