DSG price promise/price match

I recently encountered an issue with the price promise at Currys against a product at PC World.
The item was identical in both, outlets, with the same SKU, available in stock to take away immediateley. The only difference was in the price. At PCW it was marked as a clearance/ sale item at a third of the price compared to currys.
I did not purchase the item from PCW, as the packaging was damaged and it was going to be a present for someone.
I asked Currys to price promise the item and the manager refused as 'they do not price promise clearance items'
This is not stated anywhere on their terms and conditions at all. This stance has also been supported by customer service at Currys.
Is anyone aware of this exclusion, as it is not stated anywhere. Are they correct in this approach ?

You're not comparing like for like.
Why should the price match against an item that's been reduced due to damage?"Love you Dave Brooker! x"

The items were identical. They had 2 in stock, one was the display item , the other item was stock item. The outer box was torn, item was brand new. The items were reduced nationally in all PCWs, but at full price in currys.
This was not a reduced item due to packaging damage, but more a case of end of line, discontinued product nationally.
Sorry if this was not clear in my post.0 -
I'm having the same trouble myself. Currys refusing to match a PCW offer. Any ideas would be helpful.0
