Strange it may seem, but I cant seem to change the default language in my new copy of MS Word to English UK. Somehow it is set to Welsh and however much I change it via Language > Set Language when I reopen the software it is back to Welsh.
It is not the first time I have come across this either. At work they bought four new laptops and they had the same problem.
Anybody had experience of the same thing? Anyone has any ideas?
Thanks

Try setting the language to English, then click the Default key. Click ok and you should be set to English(".)0

Thanks for your speedy reply, but unfortunately that doesnt fix the problem. I try and change the default to English UK and it does change while I have the software open but when I restart Word it has changed back to Welsh !0

Could this be picking up the default language in your operating system? I presume you are using Microsoft Windows.
Try going into Control Panel and into Regional and Language Options and ensuring all the Locations and default preferences say United Kingdom and not Welsh by accident.

We discovered the problem!! It was the keyboard that was defaulting to Welsh! A quick change and all is well. Thank you all very much!
