MBNA PPI charges

Hi all.

Not sure if this is the right place to post - sorry if its not.

I currently have an MBNA credit card to which i only use to pay my car insurance and clear in whole after a few months. - (I normally pay about £100 per month.)

I have noticed that I have payment protection insurance on there - to which i do not need - i have a job which luckily is safe.

i have hunted out the last 3 years worth of statements - (i know i should learn to shred more often!) and each statement which has had a balance on has had the ppi added.

I am going to hunt out the number for MBNA to cancel this insurance. I have downloaded the sample letters from this website to which I am going to try my hardest to reclaim all these charges back.

My main question is - can i still use this credit card after?
Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

Yes you can still use the credit card, they should only cancel the insurance, not the card.

  • Your job maybe 'safe' but what provision do you have if you are unable to work due to illness or accident?

MBNA (or their PPI provider more correctly) still (in 9/10 cases) wouldnt pay out. They have several get out clauses - illnesses and alike that dont qualify.
No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.
