Hi all
Husband is going to be laid off end of March he will get about 2.5 weeks money
(not been there long)
Now our situation is this
We rent (privately)
no debts
no savings
only ever 1 pay packet away from disaster
I lost my job in Dec
I got one :T working 6-8 shifts a month 8 hours per shift at £8.50 per hour
We have a 17 1/2 year old son who receives DLA and does not earn and is not in education,he lives at home
Can we claim anything ?
Never had benefits before we dont know where to start ive read on here and am guessing we may get
Housing benefit ?
Council tax benefit ?
Hubby job seekers ?
Is that all we can get not sure how we will survive does anyone know of anything I can claim to top up on my part time wage ?
When does sons CHB end ? is it 18 ?
I cant get more work I have tried and still am as will hubby
2009 sucks so far but we are trying to be positive
Would appreciate someones advice please

I think you should have a look at entitled to , its not a definitive calc but should give you and idea
http://www.entitledto.co.uk/
And maybe a tweak in your budget planning, the SOA calc is pretty usefull at showing you how much you spend and where possible savings can be made

Hello,
Just a thought - would you be entitled to Carer's Allowance? (If your son receives High level DLA, I'm assuming it's because he needs support with some things?).
Are you registered with the local council on their waiting list? If not, I would suggest you contact your local council housing department and do so. You may then be able to get support from the Resettlement Team, should you not be able to pay your rent and have to move.
Also, do ask for a receipt if you give any forms in to Benefits/Councils and ask for a contact name as in worse case scenarios forms do "disappear"/get lost. And photocopy originals!
Good luck.Thank you to all who contribute to all of this super site:smileyhea !
