Car insurance declined

as a matter of interest, if you have been refused a renewal from company X, then don't tell company Y about it - how do company Y ever find out?
surely not every claim involves companies tracking through all previous insurers for that person and asking them about this? that would be OTT in terms of admin for a very small % of cases where they actually find out anything0 -
There is a list, if you get declined cover they normally send a note to the list and they record it.
Insurers have traditionally checked the list on large claims or if they think something is up with the claim / policy holder.
I have heard that some companies have their quote systems linked to the list and check when you ask for a quote.
Its similar to how they can check if you have previous claims0 -
does anyone know what this list is called?
I know that the claims one is called "CUE", but that doesn't include details about people who are declined a policy i'm sure. when i worked on the phones you had to tell customers about the "CUE" list, but never heard anything about this other list
if for example i changed to have a ferrari and so the insurance company didn't cover me, surely they don't send me to this list? that would be very unfair0 -
no they would not add you to the list, its for cases the Insurers have taken a consicious decision they know longer want that person as a client. I have seen it where clients had exagerated claims / put in fraudulent invoices and the Insurer has discovered it. They then inform the database to protect other Insurers.
I think it used to be called red linning or red book something like that.
Who do you work for jon and I'll show you on your quote system where they ask the relevant question. U can just put the initials if you want0
