I'm a little worried because there's quite a few mentions in various forums about this update killing the Blu Ray laser, particularly the 60gb model.

Well mine was upto date as of friday ~ and I have the 60Gb model. When did the update come out?:idea:0

ive had my 60gb ps3 on 2.60 for a few months now and had no problem with the blu-ray laser.
edit: f/w 2.60 came out on January 21, 20090 -
I've updated, and all is well!
