    Thanks for the replies.

Can I get the thermostats for the radiators even though they are older ones?

I have just looked at the thermostat...it is a digital one and says 21.9c, but the weather station gadget we have is saying 20.6 in the lounge which is the warmest place in the house. Maybe it is slightly out then?

I am not too concerned about the electric as its always been around £40-£50pm, but I have some electrical gadgets for my disability....stairlift (has to be on 24/7), bedlift and a few others. We also have an extractor fans in the bathroom and toilet. We run 2 freezers (1 with a savaplug), DW, all energy saving bulbs throughout, fish tank (small DD's), laptop, kettle, cooker, tv, computer etc etc.

By the sound of it, I am lucky that my gas isnt higher, so wont moan anymore...sorry. I have some birthday money left, so will pay that towards it.

    Thanks

    xx

It may be worth checking under warm front, as they may be able to fit the values on raiaitors for you, new radiators/ combi heating etc, done by grants and also they check ur instalation. Every bit helps x

Do you have a heated underblanket on your bed? I have one which is safe to leave on overnight (it's very low if you have nerve damage) which I find much more effective, and much cheaper than running the heating overnight.

Scottish power's gas prices are not known for being the cheapest (a least in my area) - have you had a quote from someone else. The bill also seems ok considering your life-style and the impacton your bills.

How well insulated is your house. If I have my temperature that high all day I would be sweating, especially at night. My hubby left ours on at 19 last night and that was unbearable when I woke up, and thats with all the radiators upstairs off.
I used to suffer from lack of motivation.... now I just can't be arsed.

I have just had an email from SP stating that my DD will increase to £152pm from 25th March 2009.

Shall I leave it and it should reduce next quarter?

    Thanks

The idea is that your balance should be around zero somewhere around April. Then you build up a credit balance over the summer. This gradually decreases over the winter and in April, you're back at zero.

Well, that's what happens if your DD is the right amount. You need to work out how many kwh you use in a year, cost it with your tariff's kwh cost and divide by 12. If your usage is similar to last year's and prices don't change too much, it should work.

Thanks Magentsue! I appreciate your help and advice. I will have a look and check.
