  • Holy carp, £300!!!!

Right, we have spoken on other threads about the glory of MAC, and I do understand, believe me, but £300!!! In your current situation that's madness I tells you!

Here is some advice from a wise old lady who let her addiction to Benefit and MAC b*gger her credit cards...

    ....

    ....

    STOP IT!!!

    ...

    ...

Treats are all well and good, and when you're trying to pay off debts they can be damn near essential, but this is a crazy amount of money to spend on slap. If you haven't used all of it can you put some of it on Ebay? MAC collectibles sell really well.

Stop going to Harvey Nicks or wherever they stock it in Glasweegieland, and cut yourself off. Go cold turkey. If you're anything like me you have a bag full of makeup you don't wear anyway.

Good luck with the debt busting - think of what you could have cleared if you hadn't bought that...
lol, i've been saving up since October for this collection! So it's not like i went out and blew all my money for this month!
Frasers stock it in Glasgow, lol! I couldn't live without my make up fix every other month! I haven't bought any mac since Jan cause i was waiting for Hello Kitty!
And am going to start saving up now for style warriors, the rose and the candy collections! lol

I do understand, and I was soooo happy when I got vouchers for my birthday from work and could buy one of the Christmas edition eyeshadow pallettes but if you applied the same dedication to paying your debts as you do to saving for MAC you could be debt free so much quicker!

Maybe think about not buying the whole collection, save (if it's the same amounts) £150 for your debts and £150 for your treat. You still get the ZOMG-NEW-MAKE-UP buzz but you do something good too.

And you can live without it, honest you can. I used to be in Harvey Nicks on payday each month with my card, but times changed and now I just know I can't afford it. You can do it!!

Also, next time I'm in Glasweegieland I'm coming to raid your makeup box :D

Thanks, i don't usually buy everything! but this was Hello Kitty, my favorite thing ever (besides mac) haha! And i still didn't buy the whole collection!
I'm actually going to sit and do a weekly budget for myself i think, cause i've noticed over the past few weeks that i am spending way more than i have to every day! Yeah i'm a full time student, but i live at home! So i shouldn't really be spending much except a weekly bus pass, and maybe lunch a couple of times a week.
Also - off topic if your intrested in make up/mac i make youtube videos under the same username littlepinkstars44!
I find watching other peoples haul videos stops me going out and buying lol!

You're not really throwing that much at all at the debts. Technically, you could use your wages to pay off the debt and live off your loan.

My advice would be, as soon as you get paid, put £200 towards the debts. Then the money is gone and you can't spend it on other things. At the end of the month, if you still have that extra £100, put that towards the debt too. Test your willpower a bit, see if you can really pay off £300 a month!

I do understand your love of shopping, because I am the same. Although £300 on makeup (even Mac!) is a tad crazy! I did a 2 month challenge (not brave enough to go for the whole 12 months!) - I didn't spend any money on clothes or accessories from 1st Jan until 1st March. I paid £200 off my debt in that time instead. This month, I've made £145 on eBay and have used those funds to buy clothes, still paying £100 off my debt.

I want to be able to buy things without that horrible, guilty feeling and the only way to do that is to clear the debts first. You'll feel so much better about things when you get your spending under control.

thanks, it is kinda hard though cause i get paid on a different day every month, then my loan comes through on the 7th. So if the 7th falls on a sat or sun i get it the fri before.
Then, with whatever comes in first i need to give my mum £150 right away, along with anything i've borrowed from her on the dreaded week before payday! lol

Good to start it now if you have sod all money to be honest!

I am trying not to spend my last £30 until I get paid on Monday.

I looked at your youtube videos, and I like!! From there I looked over your blog too, so I will be keeping an eye out for new purchases :rotfl: I covet your make up collection like you wouldn't believe.

I have stuff from MAC, Benefit, Stila, Urban Decay and NARS, but MAC is my favourite of all of them, I'm jealous of your brushes too - I don't have any MAC ones...*sob* I know they are meant to be awesome and all, but I use the Ruby and Millie ones that are a fiver in Boots and find them pretty good tbh.

I got a bit of good news this week and found out I will be getting extra funds on payday so am thinking about a little makeup treat, but first I want to go through my collection and see what I really need. I'm terrible for buying things and never using them again which is wasteful and silly. I reckon my collection is worth about £6-800 which is insane (I think yours is in four figures!!) but I still won't buy the cheap stuff, I will save for the good stuff.

Honestly though, you can't keep paying £10/£20 to those debts as the APRs are HUGE. Have you looked at the snowball calculator? It will tell you how long it will take you to pay them off at your current rates and I bet it's scary...

Also, smoker or not? Is it included in your SOA?

Thanks hun, i've been through my collection, and have listed a lot on Ebay over the past week. Mostly cheaper brands, ELF, Barry M, Rimmel etc.
I might go through my mac collection, and list a couple of bits i don't really use, but i doubt i'd sell anything limited edition! lol
I have just started a debt diary here, where i am going to bare all! eek i'm not looking forward to this!
I have played around with the snowballer in the past, but didn't pay much attention to it last time, i will use it again though.
    And yes i smoke.
