Grr! Estate Agents!

Sorry!..just venting my frustration!....we saw a house that we really liked and knew there were afew people interested in this property, as it was in a good location, nr to shops and a local park!...and t would have been a great family home for us!...so knowing that it was probably going to go quickly, we went in with the FULL asking price, and annoyingly we still were UNsuccessful!! Apparently the vendor decided to sell to his "friend" who went round to see the house only this morning!! And that even if we offered more money, it wouldn't be any use, as the vendor wants to sell to this friend.

I'm just wondering if the estate agents were just lying....and perhaps they accepted a backhander to get this house sold to someone who offered more money than the asking price. And they probably sold it to some rich-cash-ready property developer who wants to rent out as many rooms as possible- making what was a nice family home into another student doss house!

Sorry....I'm just annoyed!! It's probably all genuine, but really can't help feeling disappointed that even offering the asking price, we didn't get it!!

Ok...gripe over!....

I'm not the biggest fan of estate agents, but I think even so your gripe is with the vendor not the agent. ;)
The agent is probably just a p*ssed off, as the vendor will now try to claim that if the agent didn't do the introduction, that there is no fee to pay.
Comiserate with the agent on his loss, & hopefully he'll keep you in mind as serious buyers for the next ideal place that comes available.

Yeah!..you're right- my gripe is probably with the vendor! But as the agents are acting as the middle-men, you never know what has been said by either party!! Which means they can easily be spinning some lies here and there!!...and we (both seller and buyer) wouldn't know any different!...

    Back to the search.....

How is this the EA's fault? The VENDOR has agreed a sale to THEIR friend, hardly the EA's fault and I can imagine they are none to pleased either.

If you're going to jump on the "I hate Estate Agents" bandwagon at least try to make the complaint actually about EA's.
My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say ;)

Like I said before Miss Motivation- yes, it was probably more of a gripe at the vendor!...The EA are just doing their job.....but you can hardly say all EAs are 100% honest when it comes to selling??...otherwise, why have they got such a bad rep over the years??....

No they aren't, far from it! BUT it is best to stick and ranting at them for what actually IS their fault... ;) (which is normally most things, but not this specific thing ;) )

I've never said that all EA's are 100% honest, equally, I get annoyed when people say all EA's are dishonest....not true.

Perhaps you would like to change the title of your thread to Grrrr Vendors ?

Accusing someone of being stupid based solely on the information given would rather lead you to being open to the same charge.

Yes I agree with you, if you agree with me, that not all buyers and sellers are 100% honest which they are NOT.
