Yesterday i asked about HSBC, today i'm asking about Standard Chartered...the reason is i think both banks will benefit from Asian recovery as they have strong presence. The Asians are dependent on some US exports, but are not exposed directly to US sub-prime scam.

Yep they've been tipped for a while, the price has fallen which you should be glad about if you like the dividend and want to own them for a few years
Buying them after a rise is the wrong way round of course but its still a fall compared to their average for recent years or months even so it depends on your time scale0 -
AT 620 odd they are still pretty close to their 1 year low.
On paper they look like one of the better Banks if you want to invest in that sector.
Depending on your timescale, I think a watching brief would be the best option currently with an idea to move quickly if the stock starts to outperform the market over a period.
The upside ought to be quite significant, and missing the first 50p or so shouldn't worry you.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
If I had the money this is one I would want to buy every month for the next 2 years just at a gradual pace.
If your smart you could time the lows and highs and trade an advantage that way but I never have the guts or the luck to pull that off really
Always investigate companies as much as possible before you invest to see if it meets your own ideas of what forms a good business0 -
oh yes definitely. I have bought for the dh`s sipp0
