conveyancing quotation

I wonder if anyone has some knowledge of this, I had a few quotes for conveyancing for a house purchase from local solicitors. One of the quotes includes charges for ...

Credit check £10.35 per person
Bankuptcy Search £2.00 per person.

None of the other solicitor quotes mention the above checks (Im not quibbling about the charge) - just curious, is it normal for solicitors to credit check their clients? are they checking for their own purposes or for the lender? wouldnt this leave a footprint on your credit file?

The credit check could be a check to comply with the anti-laundering rules.

If you are having a mortgage on the proeprty then a bankruptcy search will be needed @ £2 person, but this is often lost in a more general category of "searches" rather than such a detailed itemisation.

As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.

many thanks for replying, so the anti laundering checks are carried out by all solicitors, just not excplicitly stated?
