Trying to remove winpenguin

I installed this small programme on my PC and for a while it was fun having penguins walk around my desktop. I've grown tired of them and have tried to uninstall, but they are still there. Nothing appears under add/remove programs, nothing in the start menu folder. How do I get rid of the beasts?

Does the program start when you start windows?
If it does, the first place to check is Start -> Programs -> Startup and see if the program is in there. If it is, delete it and it won't start when you run windows (The startup program may be somewhere else in the Start menu depending which version of windows you are using - if it isn't where I said it is above, try looking in accessories or just hunt wound for it).
If the program (or a shortcut to it) is not in the Startup folder, then you may need to edit the registry to stop it running or it could be in the general startup folder (if you are running Windows XP). Post a reply and I'll tyr and guide you through deleting it from there.
To delete the program itself, you first need to find it. Click on Start and Search and then enter in winpenguins.exe and hit find. This should search your computer to find it (if it doesn't, try seraching for files containing peng). Once you have found it, navigate to that folder.
Firstly, look for a file starting uninst. If you double click this file, it may uninstall the program for you. If it doesn't exist, just rename penguins.exe (or whatever it is called) and then try restarting your computer. If it starts fine, you can go back to the folder and delete it.
If you have problems starting windows again (normally it gives a message saying could not find xxx.exe) then it is looking for the winpenguins file to start and can't find it. This is where you need to stop it starting first before you delete it.
I have just downloaded winpenguins.exe from Google and it didn't need any installation. You just download the file and run it so hopefully what I have said here will be enough to guide you through stopping it.
If it doesn't, let us know.0 -
Hi,
If you haven't already got it, try downloading CCleaner. Once downloaded, please go to Tools -> Uninstall. I don't know about Winpenguin. But usually this application provides a safe functionality for me to delete unwanted programs.
CClearner could be downloaded from here.
Hope this helps! Good luck :-)0 -
Located and removed. Also installed CCleaner having come across it from Intel's website provided in response to another question. It's great. What a big spring clean and the machine is running so much faster.0
