Personally I prefer local nights out in places like Clapham, Balham and so on - bit friendlier, you can wear jeans, and it doesn't cost half as much
an outfit is sitting in your wardrobe not in a shop and nights out in Clapham - no way plus you can wear jeans in clubs in Central London are you trying for the members only/VIP clubs are something?0 -

When I stick to local nights out I can wear jeans yes. But the city clubs (the so called "celeb hangouts" that my friends sometimes take me to insist on you looking fabulous darling. So its dresses and fake tan and high heels...exhausting really and I am enjoying quite a long break from it at the minute.
Tried to take my phone back today, they were having none of it - apparently there is no refund on new contracts or connections.
so I'm stuck with it but I'll just have to make the most of it!!
Thanks guys for all your comments, I am trying to come to terms with my money and encouragement is great
End of 2010 I was £8,007.66 in debt

I found this post quite hurtful and I'm sure others will do too
there are people on these boards who work so hard to get their debts down and this post is like a smack in the face.
I bought a new phone at the weekend - its pink and was £4 from TJ Hughes. I also have £4.79 straightners from Asda.:money:
Sorry, bit hormonal today but thats my confession - spending £8.79 made from £10 I won on the lottery:cool:0 -
Please, please don't be offended!!!! that was not the intention at all...I was trying to point out that I have very little willpower and need help - I reached out to you guys because I knew you could help me. I'm really sorry if I inadvertently offended any onesecretspender wrote: »I found this post quite hurtful and I'm sure others will do too

I'm not offended
I love people like you
I am convinced that businesses are out to make a certain amount of profit and so people like you subsidise the....ahem....more stingy people like me
Keep spending, it help keep the price of my non branded goods down  Also it subsidises my cashback credit card that I pay off every month

PS Although actually I really hope you do well in your debt busting in the future

Blimey. You have been given a going over!!
You spent £848 that you shouldn't have. So what? Nobody is going to die over it? What harm has come of it? You are going to be in debt for a little longer. Its you that has to pay it back, not us....
It's all part of the learning curve and apart from your own guilt perhaps it can help you look to what your trigger points for splurging are.
Don't beat yourself up over it, just move on and learn!0 -

Hi and welcome to the boards!
I have just read your thread and I'd like to help if I could. However, I do wonder, as do one or two others if you really have had your lightbulb moment from some of your lighter comments.
I think you can clear your debts quite easily if you knuckle under and give up some of your more expensive pleasures. Alternatively, you can hover for several more years with debts that never seem to go down, let alone away.
I sound harsh and I don't mean to be. I just believe if you directed some of your determination to have a good time and only buy what you perceive to be the best into a determination to be truly debt free you will find it a much easier task.Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30
Total debt today: £0 - debt and mortgage free 29th November 2013 :T

I think a Statement of Affairs is the next step, on the thread, so you can see it all written down and there is nowhere left to hide with what you actually spend

Take the GHD's back for a refund. Buy a cheaper pair, you'd be surprised how much you are just paying for the name. Sell the new phone on ebay and use the original one. If you don't have it still (although I don't see why you wouldn't have it!) spend £10 or so on a basic unlocked one from somewhere like Game. OK, so it's not posh but it's a phone and makes calls and sends texts.
Return the ipod and either buy a bog standard mp3 player or a more basic ipod.
With regards to the nights out, I'm not sure what to suggest now. You seem to say that your friends 'take you to' the expensive places - learning to say 'no' is going to be a very important thing over the coming months. To pay off your debt by Dec 09 is going to mean a blanket 'no' to a social life because you have 9 months and £10k to clear!!!
I hope you do have your LBM, but I don't think you have done yet - sorry......you'll know when you do. It's like a big weight smacking you in the face when you realise that financially you cannot get any lower and you just want to cry with fear and worry at the enormity of the mists clearing and you realise the situation. THEN you'll start to get yourself a plan
