    just another phone really
  • GHD's can be repaired for under £20, so no need to splash out on a new set. I paid £14 to someone on Ebay, sent them off and got them back in 4 days, good as new.

Ok I have a confession to make.

Last month I was very very bad.

    I spent the following:

£195 on a new phone You could have spent £0 and got a free upgrade
£125 new ipod (traded in old one though :T) Why did you need a new one - was the old one broken? Why couldn't you have bought a cheaper model at £92 plus cashback Quidco?

£155 new GHDs (currently trying to trade in old ones as they broke and I am cross!) You could have got these repaired or bought new ones for £96 plus cashback

£273 on holiday. Is this the full cost of the holiday?

£100 on two nights in Leicester (home town) to see my ex and family - and then to go out and get drunk. You could have stayed with friends or on the sofa at your Mum and Dads

And guess what this all went on my credit card. See updated debt total in my signature!!!

So, please, post your disgust and anguish at me to make sure I don't do this again!!

I can see from your signature that your contract runs out at the end of 2009. You REALLY need to get your debt sorted before then as you might not be able to get another contract straightaway. I have been applying for part time jobs with over 400 applicants! Times are tough.

It's time to bring your expectations of life down a little until the debt is gone. I would recommend posting an SOA and drawing up a realistic budget. If you need some treats, no problem, but make sure that you are getting the best deals. On the weekend you spent - £848, but with a bit of forethought and (dare I say it) self-discipline, you could still have had lots of new treats but only spent - £188!!!

It's not easy to change entrenched attitudes to spending, and everyone here knows the urge to splurge. Lets hear you making some plans as to how you're going to get the debt sorted :)

Woah, just run the figure from your sig - that's a whopping £1048 per month to pay back, without interest.

If you spent an extra £848 per month until December your total debt would be £17064 !!!

I would recommend Martin's article and the Demotivator

if you had put that £848 towards your debts rather than adding to them you would now be £1696 closer to clearing your debt than you are now.

    that's a lot of money

Remind me to never live in London! Lol But it is suprising how a night out adds up.

I live in London I just don't go clubbing or taking taxis I use my monthly pass or walk.

I still can't see how you can spend £100 in one night even with going into a club unless it's like £60 on drinks

I once had 3 glasses of wine, 3 wine shots (don't ask), 2 expensive shots and god knows how many more shots (prob into double figures) and was no where near £100
