Whitefriars - fake or genuine?

I have bought and recieved a whitefriars vase from ebay and something just doesnt seem right about it. The pattern on the vase doesnt appear to be that of the bark effect which it is meant to be, there is no polished pontil (the base has jagged criss-cross lines on it), there is a pronounced 'join' running down both sides of the vase and at the lip it is not typical whitefriars. I dont want to go accusing the seller just yet, but what happens if I suggest to ebay that the item may well be not what it is meant to be?

Right, I have mailed ebay. I dont want to contact the seller because I dont want things getting nasty, the seller cant do anything anyway really. I am hoping a w/f buff comes on here and sees this. I bought it as a Mothers Day present but its turned into a nightmare. How do I properly report a fake item to ebay?0

You'd need to go through paypal... and you'll be asked for proof it's fake.My TV is broken!

You'll need to take it to your nearest Whitefriars dealer and ask them to examine it - they'll tell you if it's fake or not.
If it is fake, they'll hopefully give you a certificate, which you can then scan and sent to ebay, whilst opening up a dispute. Do NOT send a fake item back in the post. It needs to be destroyed by trading standards.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
I have opened a dispute via paypal and hope to get it resolved soon. They are claiming they bought it as genuine, but it is definately not whitefriars! When should I close the dispute? Will paypal make a decision once I close the dispute?0
-
Why do you want to close the dispute? If you close it you can't reopen it so wait until paypal make a decision.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I collect Whitefriars and it's amazing the number of mis-described 'Whitefriars' vases listed. Any slightly textured glass gets described as Whitefriars. They usually end with no bids or 1 unlucky bid at the starting price.
Just had a quick look - this isn't Whitefriars

I opened a dispute, the seller has offered a refund, albeit through ebay messageing and not the paypal dispute. How do I return the item and guarentee I get a full refund via paypal? Is it safe if I obtain a tracking number?0
-
I have sent the item back by trackable means and should get a refund in a couple of days, is there absolutely no way to get the £8.25 return postage back? I mean, this guy has sold me an item that is not what he said it was. Its like buying a Porsche to find out you actually have bought a Skoda! Is there any way I can push the seller towards refunding the return postage, im assuming paypal wont be bothered about it but im out of pocket and it could be the deciding factor between a neg and a neutral.0
